MoonPay Launches PayBox

MoonPay, a financial technology company for crypto and fiat payments, has introduced PayBox, a payment vault that allows AI assistants to complete transactions directly inside Claude and ChatGPT. The service lets users manage digital assets and pay for online services without leaving the chat interface.
After connecting PayBox through a custom connector, users can simply describe what they want in natural language. AI can prepare actions such as buying PYUSD, swapping tokens, bridging assets between blockchains, depositing funds into DeFi protocols, booking flights, or reserving restaurants. The final confirmation is completed by the user using a passkey, after which the transaction is executed.
PayBox supports Solana and EVM-compatible networks, including Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Hyperliquid, Tempo, and Robinhood Chain. According to MoonPay, more blockchain integrations will be added later. The platform stores both crypto wallets and payment cards. Private keys are protected with MPC technology and trusted execution environments, preventing any single party, including MoonPay or the AI assistant, from accessing user funds independently.
Users can choose between two permission modes. In “Always Ask,” every payment requires manual approval. In “Autonomous,” AI can perform transactions within limits defined by the user. All permissions can be changed or revoked at any time.
The platform is built on the infrastructure of Sodot, a secure wallet technology provider acquired by MoonPay earlier this year. MoonPay says this technology already protects more than $50 billion in digital assets across over 10 million wallets.
