Itaú Partners With OpenAssets

OpenAssets, a digital asset infrastructure provider, has partnered with Itaú, Latin America’s largest financial institution, to explore tokenization across Brazil’s capital markets.
The companies will work within a tokenization pilot led by ANBIMA, the Brazilian Financial and Capital Markets Association. The initiative is testing how capital market instruments such as debentures and investment funds can be issued, traded, and settled using distributed ledger technology (DLT).
As part of the collaboration, OpenAssets and Itaú will develop technical proofs of concept and examine the architecture and standards needed for tokenized assets. The work will also cover operational and compliance requirements for using blockchain-based infrastructure in regulated financial markets. The pilot focuses on fixed-income instruments and investment funds. It is designed to test the full lifecycle of these assets, from issuance to trading and settlement, rather than limiting the work to individual blockchain experiments.
OpenAssets provides infrastructure for tokenized digital assets, while Itaú is a major Brazilian financial services institution.
