Owners of the 20,000 Solana Saga smartphones produced so far have been awarded a wide range of tokens and rewards in recent weeks following a surge in sales, and now there’s another one. The token in question has increased in price over the past 24 hours. Samoyedcoin (SAMO), the long-running Solana memecoin whose price peaked in 2021, previously announced airdrop plans for Saga holders and confirmed this on Monday. On Tuesday, developers began distributing the promised tokens, after which the price of the token began to rise rapidly.
SAMO jumped from a price around $0.0135 to $0.0175 early Tuesday morning, although the coin has since given up some of its gains and fallen to its current price of just under $0.016. Memcoin is up about 24% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko. It is reported that Saga owners can claim 1,250 SAMO, which at the current price is almost $20.
The memcoin team introduced the Saga Tools, which allows other Solana developers to organize airdrops and configure other functions intended exclusively for Web3 smartphone owners. Previously, the hype around the Bonk token (BONK) airdrop led to a scarcity of Saga. At the asset’s peak, users were getting around $900 in memcoin for a $599 device.
